A
mid the tumultuous events around the world, it is heartening to see the resilience of Singaporeans and the international community working together to make the world a better place. With climate change at our heels, a concerted effort globally is sustainability, reflecting how individuals and organisations are hewing towards a more environmentally friendly world.
Community focus and collaboration remain pivotal in many Singapore-led initiatives, both locally and globally. Singapore International Foundation’s (SIF) Citizen Ambassador Dr Jared Ng’s work with his peers in Cambodia to uplift the country's mental healthcare exemplifies this approach. In another instance, two Singaporean doctors work with a Timor-Leste non-governmental organisation to raise the standards of its healthcare capacity.
In an exclusive interview, Singaporean academic Professor Ho Puay Ping, the Unesco Chair on Architectural Heritage Conservation and Management in Asia, shares his views on preserving architectural legacy in the region and the value of cross-cultural collaboration. Singaporean academic and healthcare professional Dr Nigel Tan emphasises the sharing of knowledge and skills in the education sector with other communities.
A homegrown sports company empowers migrant domestic workers with futsal tournaments. Ecologist Debby Ng helps vaccinate Nepal’s stray dogs, and Ong Wee Yeap galvanises volunteers to build more education and sanitation facilities in remote areas.
SINGAPORE magazine will be taking a hiatus for now. We hope you have been inspired by our stories and will continue to make this world a better place, one initiative at a time.
Each one of us can make a difference. Together we can make a change.
